About Project

Shelbyville Lake is a 11,000-acre man-made body of water created in 1963 by damming the Kaskaskia River. It is a poplar recreation area in central Illinois.

In 2022, TIC was contracted to complete maintenance work on two of the three tainter gates created to dam the lake.

The scope of work called for installation of a work platform to provide access to the gates, abrasive blasting each of the gates to an SSPC SP-5 white metal steel cleanliness and the application of a four-part vinyl paint system.
