Executives
Since: 1991
Don began his career in industrial coatings in 1979 at Busch and Latta. In just three years, he worked his way up from an industrial painter to foreman. From 1982-1991, Don was employed by Shield Painting. He started as a painter, moving up through the ranks until he was named vice president in 1990. Eventually, Don decided to go at it on his own, and in 1991, he started Thomas Industrial Coatings. He has never looked back. Don has more than 30 years of industrial and heavy commercial painting experience. He’s an active and respected member of all aspects of the coatings community and is proud to have his name on every single job TIC completes.

Andrew came to Thomas Industrial Coatings after 20 years in public education. His primary responsibilities include serving as the company’s EEO officer and coordinating training opportunities for TIC’s painters. He works with the union to ensure production certifications are current, as well as offers in-house opportunities for the production team to grow their skills. Andrew also monitors and collects production data to help establish accurate job estimations.

Dane’s journey with TIC started as a shop laborer during his high school summers. Following his graduation from the University of Missouri, he started working full time for TIC as an estimator and project manager in the bridge & highway market. Dane currently leads the Business Development team which is tasked with obtaining new accounts, estimating projects and supporting operations through to completion. He specializes in coordinating private industry and large scale transportation projects throughout the continental U.S. Additionally, Dane supports the inland marine, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Department of Defense markets.

John is responsible for developing new accounts and estimating projects throughout the continental US, and internationally in Japan, Guam, and the Caribbean. John’s primary focus has been with the fueling facilities and hangars at the various Department of Defense (DOD) bases. He also continues to work with developing accounts in other industries to include locks and dams, power facilities, water and wastewater facilities.

Josh’s journey with TIC started as a shop laborer during his high school summers. He stayed connected through his college years by providing onsite reporting and job cost analysis. After earning his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and his Masters of Business Administration from Bellarmine University, he returned to TIC and helped evaluate internal processes. He kicked off his operations team career by project managing the largest contract in TIC history at the time — the Huey P. Long Bridge. He moved on from project management to a business manager role for several years until he entered into his current role as Vice President-Director of Operations. Josh supports the project team(s) to execute projects safely, with quality, on time and within budget. Josh evaluates TIC’s daily processes, procedures, and employee effectiveness for continued growth to satisfy our customers in all sectors in which we perform work.
Business Development

Andy joined the team in 2005 as a project manager and estimator in the highway and heavy civil markets. He currently heads up the business development efforts for various DOT’s throughout the midwest and midsouth regions. Andy also serves as our Quality Systems Manager and manages our Corporate Quality Control Program to ensure compliance with our QP1, QP2, & QS1 certifications. He currently holds licenses as a Missouri Professional Engineer, AMPP Senior Certified Coating Inspector, Master Coatings Inspector, Quality Control Supervisor, Level 2 Concrete Coatings Inspector, Level 2 Protective Coating Inspector, and Protective Coating Specialist.

Rick works closely with Business Development in contract review and execution. He collaborates with Operations to ensure the accurate and timely contractual and financial management of each project. Rick came to TIC after 23 years in construction financial management and administration.

After completing an internship with TIC and graduating from Missouri University of Science and Technology with a degree in Civil Engineering, Will joined the team full time as an estimator on the business development team. He patrols several markets including the United States Army Corps of Engineers, Department of Defense, Department of Transportation, maritime, private facilities, and countless different state and county municipalities. Will prides himself in taking on such a wide variety of projects and makes it his personal responsibility to ensure TIC has the resources needed to complete them in a safe and timely manner.
Operations

Brian joined TIC in 2023 as a project manager. He has extensive construction experience and has been a valuable asset in his short time with us. We look forward to the future and watching his growth within TIC.

Elon began his career in the industrial coatings industry in 2006, working his way to the level of project manager. He has experience in multiple sectors of the industry, including petrochemical refining, DoD facilities, pipeline, commercial, and new construction projects. Joining TIC in 2020, his responsibilities are to establish/maintain relationships with general xontractors, provide direction and support for our field personnel, and to ensure projects are completed safely, with quality and efficiency. Elon focuses on TIC’s international projects.

With a long family history in industrial coatings, Haiden joined TIC in 2024 as an intern while finishing his undergrad degree. Now in a full time position as a project manager, he is leading projects in a variety of markets while ensuring that his crews are working safely and providing a quality product to our customers.

Jack provides support to the Operations team by performing a wide range of administrative and coordination tasks.

Jason came to us in 2015 with 14 years construction experience with an emphasis in heavy industrial markets. Jason is our Swiss Army Knife in his current role as Senior Project Manager, as he oversees projects in a variety of markets.

JJ is currently charged with overseeing the day-to-day operations at our Kansas City office, as well as managing our projects in the western Missouri, Kansas & Arkansas region. He worked in the field as a foreman for 4 years in the maritime industry before moving to Project Manager in 2015. JJ coordinates with contractors and vendors, continually assesses manpower, logistics and materials to complete projects safely, on time and on budget.

John began his career with TIC in the field serving as an on-site quality control inspector. He has transitioned into a project manager role, establishiing and maintaining relationships with our customers, and providing direction and support to our crew members. He oversees the daily operations of multiple projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time and on budget. John now has a hand in almost all sectors of TIC’s services in the DOT, DOD, and private sectors.

Jonah started in the field as a journeyman painter and then moved to foreman/superintendent. Logan began his career with TIC working in the shop. He then moved into project management. Currently, as a project manager, Logan establishes and maintains relationships with general contractors and provides direction and support to our crew members. He oversees the daily operations of multiple projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, and on budget. His projects consist of bridges for MODOT/IDOT, as well as above ground fuel piping and ground storage tanks for the sectors of the Department of Defense.

Matthew started with TIC as a high school student and continued to work at TIC while he pursued his degree in Civil Engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology. Since his graduation, his responsibilities are to establish and maintain relationships with general contractors, provide direction and support for our crew members, oversee the daily operations of multiple projects, and ensure projects are completed safely, on time and within budget. He is also tasked with assisting Business Development by calculating takeoffs and estimates based on the project specifications and plans.

Rob has been a key member of TIC since 2007. He currently serves as the Purchasing & Logistics Manager. With a Bachelor of Arts degree in international business, Rob is responsible for various crucial tasks within the company. His primary responsibilities include researching and sourcing vendors and suppliers and negotiating contracts vendor contracts. Additionally, Robert evaluates the procurement process, supplier relationships and contracts to identify potential areas for enhanced profitability. His expertise also extends into managing TIC’s $20 million worth of equipment assets. Rob’s main priority lies in efficiently and effectively maintaining the company’s equipment to reduce job costs and provide added value to clients.
Safety & Health

Chris started his journey with TIC in the summer of 2022 as an intern in the safety department as part of his collegiate program at the University of Central Missouri. Upon graduation, Chris started full time as a safety coordinator, assisting our EH&S director with day-to-day operations, on-site inspections, training of employees, and helping to ensure the safety and health of all TIC employees on all job sites.

Jon joined the Thomas Industrial Coatings team as an apprentice in 1999. He worked his way to foreman/superintendent. and in January 2017, he moved to the safety department. Jon was promoted to his current position after serving more than years as a safety coordinator, assisting our previous EH&S Director with day-to-day operations, on-site inspections and training of employees, and helping to ensure the safety and health of all TIC employees on all job sites. Jon’s current role at TIC is to lead, direct and drive continuous improvement in all of the company’s environmental, health, safety, and industrial hygiene programs.

Sarah started at TIC in 2021 as andminstrative assistant to the Business Development & Operations teams. She has transisitioned to the Safety Department, where she assists with ensuring all employee training, certifications, and other safety and health requirements are up-to-date.
Accounting

Alyssa came to TIC afollowing her graduation from UMSL, where she earned bachelor’s degrees in accounting and operations management. Alyssa is responsible for processing weekly payroll and ensuring compliance with wage requirements for all projects. She also tracks union benefits and reports to approximately 50 locals per month. Additionally, Alyssa ensures the proper tax accounts are registered for each state in which TIC performs work and tackles a wide variety of other projects within the accounting department.

Claudia, Don’s wife, helped start Thomas Industrial Coatings in 1991. Her duties include licensing company vehicles and trailers, banking, office stocking and assisting project managers with any special assignments.

Kim graduated from University of Missouri – Columbia with a B.S. in Finance. She is currently responsible for managing the General Ledger, including accounts payable and banking functions. She also helps with benefit coordination for our managment team.
